When the drive to do something comes from the external environment, it is called coercion or manipulation. When it comes from within, it is called motivation. Your child’s chances for success, today and in the future, are greatly enhanced by intrinsic motivation and grit, both of which will be covered in this session.

The social world can be complicated and complex. and some children are at greater risk of being neglected or rejected by their peers. Those with social vulnerability can struggle with many challenges, including but not limited to shyness, social anxiety and withdrawal. This session examines the many faces of social vulnerability and how we can empower them with the needed skills to master the three social missions: friendship, popularity and political.

For children to succeed long-term, they need to have to bounce back from challenges and failure. This session provides practical tools for teaching your children resilience as well as nine resources children need as they journey through life.

This generation of children has the highest rate of food allergies, obesity, mental health and developmental diagnoses and autoimmune diseases ever recorded in the US. This session explores the connection of nutrition to diagnoses such as ADHD and anxiety, and some proven approaches to prevent or address these concerns once they arise.

The greatest power we have as parents is influence. When our influence is used well, we create cooperation and an emotionally safe environment so our children thrive. This session explores influencing approaches, such as inviting language, powerful questions and ways to deepen trust.

Friends quarrel, spouses argue, siblings fight, and enemies attack. One thing all have in common is an unsolved problem. While there many ways to resolve problems, social problem-solving is the most effective with children. This session examines the pre-requisite skills kids need and strategies for effective conflict resolution, including sibling rivalry and bullying.

The playground of today is social media, which is a form of entertainment but not play by its definition. This session explores the forgotten art of play and the skills children need to actively engage in play with their peers.
