February 23: 7:30-9 PM
Description: As a parent of three grown children, I have learned that the journey of parenting is full of tests one cannot study for, as well as important lessons- some that repeat over and over again. I learned that things work until they don’t and when they don’t, how helpless and confused one can feel. I learned how exhausted a human being can become and that parenting is not for the faint of heart. This session is designed to inspire you to reflect on your vision of what it takes to raise thriving children in a complex and complicated world.
March 2: 7:30-9 PM
Description: Children are not things to be molded, but people to be unfolded. While all children share common developmental characteristics, each has been gifted with his or her very own set of designer genes. This session reveals the layers of greatness waiting to be discovered so we can celebrate the hero within each set of designer genes.
March 9: 7:30-9 PM
Description: Childhood is calling! Will you answer? There is no doubt that this short and precious stage of development has changed over the past 25 years. In the past, childhood was a time in life marked by imagination, make believe, games and hanging out – a time of spontaneity, creativity and curiosity. The word play evoked images of dolls and trucks, dress up and hide and seek, or hopscotch and jumping rope. Today, play is not valued and childhood has become a pressure cooker for many. This session will address ways to put the child back in childhood, including supporting the sense of innocence and wonder.
March 16: 7:30-9 PM
Description: Our children seem to be so plugged into electronics and spend most of their waking hours in structured indoor experiences that they have lost their connection to the natural world. Yet, when explored, nature has a positive and direct effect on their overall physical and mental health. It is human natures natural tranquilizer and it’s available at no cost. This session addresses the fundamental idea behind the movement “Leave no child inside.”
March 23: 7:30-9 PM
Description: Children have a way of becoming what we encourage them to be, not what we nag them to be. They live life as an adventure; their security lies in their initiative, resourcefulness, creativity, courage and integrity. Through these, they have the opportunity to transform their lives in the best possible ways and influence others in authentic ways. This session examines the concept of transformational leadership and how to cultivate it in your kids.
